I am an Exercise Physiologist who taught at universities for 15 years (at the Universities of Toledo, Michigan, Manitoba and Calgary). My responsibilities included teaching exercise physiology, research methods and nutrition to Biology majors, Nursing students, Medical students and Physical Education Majors; advising Graduate Students; conducting exercise related research; and consulting for several National Athletic Teams.  I have been the “fitness consultant” for the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team, the Canadian Olympic Downhill Ski Team and have done considerable work for the Canadian Biathlon Team of which my son has been a member for many years and is now one of the Coaches. He used his expertise as the nutrition coach for Mr. Jamie Clarke of Calgary, the successful leader of the 1997 Mount Everest Expedition.

The above is not meant as a brag session but rather to assure you that in my former roles I have had the opportunity and need to evaluate numerous Nutrition Support programs and products.

I was introduced to the Nutritional Support programs from one U.S. company by the trainer of a professional football team.  I was a skeptic, as are most scientists.  However, when my family used the products for just a short time, we knew there was something significant here.  The health benefits we experienced would take to long to explain in this letter, but they were noteworthy.  This prompted me to investigate this company more thoroughly.

The investigation revealed an astonishing array of research, published by the company scientists in cooperation with numerous universities, in the scientific journals (including the Journal of the American Medical Association, the Journal of Applied Physiology, The Journal of the American Dietetic Association, The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, The American Journal of Cardiology, to Medicine & Science in Exercise Sport, plus many European Journals).  The company has been a leader in the development of technology to create unique products in the areas of Protein Supplements, Sustained Release Vitamin-C, odor-controlled Garlic, an algae-derived Beta Carotene, soluble and insoluble fiber, muscle recovery and development products, rehydration and energy product, and a multiple vitamin with a calcium balance proven to improve bone density 100% more than an equivalent amount of a competitive calcium in both pre and post menopausal women.  I received a collection of over 70 research publications conducted by the Science and Technology department. I have yet to receive even one from several requested of other Nutrition companies.  The company spends more on research and development than some companies create in sales.

The impressive commitment to their research effort and over 50 years of results has convinced me that I am now dealing with the leader in Nutritional Support and Diagnostic Preventive Medicine.  They further enhanced the research and development commitment of Shaklee in a plan to become the most comprehensive Health Care and preventive medicine organization in the world.

The above summary is why the Wellness Profile recommends supplement amounts consistent with their products to assure results for individuals.

Sincerest best wishes,

L. Lee Coyne, Ph.D.
